Biography

After two years, she left there to live in her father’s house at Makun Sagamu with her Uncle. She later left after six months to live with her aunty Mrs. Efuwape Sofekun. During her stay with her aunty, she was learning how to be a merchant trader in Farm produce. She later left her aunty after two years to her uncle Mr. Tayo Sotomide. These changing experiences at such a tender age due to the death of her father perhaps shaped her inner strength and the will to face many other difficult challenges of her life, especially her quest to ensure her children are educated and succeed in their life endeavours.

During her stay with her uncle, she met her husband Late Pa. Ezekiel Orenuga Ogunsanya, who was an immigrant farmer from Ikorodu. Her husband was required to meet her families from the mother’s side in Offin Sagamu and her father’s side in Makun Sagamu to ask for her hands in marriage. They got married in the year 1955 in Ode Lemo, Sagamu Local Government. During that period, Mama was trading Kola nuts both at Ode Lemo and Sagamu. She would usually travel to Ore, Ipetu, Abeokuta and other places to buy Kola nuts in large quantities, process and sell to the Hausas in Sagamu.

She is survived by son Engr. Kolawole Solomon Ogunsanya, Mrs. Bukola Abiola Sonoiki, her last-born Engr. Olatunji Olusesan Ogunsanya, many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Her surviving younger siblings include, Mr. Moses Odunayo Adekoya now the head of the family, Mrs. Hafsat Kafaru and Mrs. Seliat Adebajo. Through her hard work, she largely supported her husband in ensuring all her children attain University Education and also built her own multi-level building in Sabo, Sagamu where she lived after the death of her husband in January 2007.

Mama joined Bibire Club of Sagamu in 1960. Where she would usually go with her husband to dance and celebrate with her club members. When Mama’s daughter-inlaw, Dr. Mary Ajoke Ogunsanya started having children, Mama travelled to the United States to support her and the husband with their children. She travelled multiple times back and forth to the United States to spend time with her Children and Grand Children. While outside Nigeria, her usual passion and devotion was to her family, she took time to visit many of her family members including, Mrs. Faleti, Mr. Folabi Fasanya who lives in New York, Mr. Gboyega Faleti, Mr. Kunle Faleti, Mr. Sofola Ogunye Mrs. Toyin Badiya Ajala and Mrs. Bisi Erinle.

On her return from the US, she was honoured with the title of LOWA OF BIBIRE CLUB, with coronation ceremony in Sagamu. She is also the Deaconess of her second church, Onward Prayer Assembly Sagamu.

Her devotion to her children and family remains the center of her life. May Her Soul Rest in Peace.
